The Parlour Brooklyn's Jill McArthur lets her love for music and musicians of the past and present serve as the inspiration for her color sessions and artful cuts. “From hair, to outfits to performances, musicians have trained my eye towards effortless, free-spirited styles that look as if they were created by the artist themselves. I use this as a platform for clients to recreate what we achieve in salon at home, and so that the color and cut looks purposeful as it transitions between services.”

For the past nine years, Jill has been a drummer in the all-girl band The Foxx and the native Brooklyn three-piece, Triple Hex. Upon graduation from the New Mexico Aveda Institute, Jill spent six years at the Laru Ni Hati Salon and three years at Heart & Soul in Albuquerque. After moving to New York, Jill attended the Bumble & Bumble University where she mastered styling techniques such as event hair, razor cuts and curly and textured hair cutting. “Hair has moods and behaviors—it isn't perfect, nor should it be. It should be worked with, not against what it wants to do,” Jill says. “Only then can you unleash its full potential and beauty.”  Educated by Goldwell instructors, Jill also specializes in highlighting, ombre and color techniques, color correction, bleaching and toning. For fellas, she creates signature looks with her expertise in facial hair tailoring. As The Parlour Brooklyn’s Senior Stylist, she also teaches in-salon classes and mentors the salon’s assistant stylists.
